If you’re looking for an easy, low-cost security solution, the suite that is integrated into Windows 10 or 11 is a great option. Also called Microsoft Defender or Windows Security that combines antivirus protection with an firewall, device performance monitoring, child protection online (you decide what your kids are allowed to do on computers and other devices) and other features.
It also comes with a password manager as well as an anti-phishing tool and other features. The firewall monitors both inbound and outbound connections including Wi-Fi networks. It also has a sophisticated menu that allows you to view specific information about suspicious connections, which is an excellent feature.
In our tests the program did a fantastic job in blocking most malicious downloads and phishing sites. Its reputation-based security system utilizes a massive online database to assign websites and apps reputation scores. Programmes with low scores will be immediately blocked. Additionally, it also offers protection against exploits that protect you from attacks that try to change your computer’s settings.
While it’s good overall, it’s not quite as effective as the malware detection rates of standalone competitors like Norton or Bitdefender. It does, however, include the password manager, it does not include other useful features like a PC optimizer or a VPN. The customer support options are extensive. There is a large community with extensive FAQs, forums, and multiple ways to contact an expert tech support via live chat or email.
